In order to qualify under this category, you must demonstrate that you and your partner are in a genuine and stable relationship, and have been living together for more than 12 months.
To sponsor a partner, you must be either a New Zealand citizen and not have sponsored anyone else in the last 5 years, or be the holder of a New Zealand Residence Visa.
Initially, the visa will be granted with Travel Conditions for two years, however, provided you are still residing in New Zealand and continue to meet the criteria, then the visa may be re-issued with indefinite Travel Conditions.
In order to qualify under this category, you must demonstrate that the “centre of gravity” of your family is in New Zealand. This means that you must have an equal number or more children living in New Zealand than any other country, including your own.
To sponsor a parent, your sponsor must have held a New Zealand permanent residency visa for a minimum of 3 years, spent a minimum amount of time in New Zealand and they and/or their partner must meet the minimum income requirement.
It is also very important to be aware of the timescales involved in processing applications under this category.
Applicants under this category must have no parents or siblings residing their own country, have a genuine offer of employment and a sponsor eligible to sponsor you.
To be sponsored under this category, you must have a sibling in New Zealand who has held permanent residency for at least 3 years.
Timescales for applications under this category are in line with those for applications under the Parent category.
